The New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Ketu South constituency David Tiahno has donated food and some assorted items worth Gh¢50,000 to the aged in his constituency.
Speaking to Hon. David Tiahno he said is not politically motivated, ” he told us that someone who perfectly understands the direct negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the people of Ketu South Constituency as a result of the subsequent directives by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to help reduce the spread and contain the virus, thus, the lockdown of our borders (in this case, the Aflao border), and the lockdown of especially Accra and it’s environs in recent times, I took the pain to step in as I have always done, to reach out to my constituents with some food items as well as other relief packages.”
Though not everyone will be expected to benefit, it was my hope to touch base with over 1,500 households within the constituency. To ensure this target is reached, I and the team linked up with the various Assembly Members of each electoral area to help in the process and to make the sharing easy as we ensured the priorities were met to achieve our targets.
The Target: We set our focus on the following; 1. Widows and Widowers. 2. The very poor and needy. 3. The Aged. 4. Others, thus, to be determined by the various Assembly Members within their various communities.
God willing, we were able to reach out to 15 electoral areas yesterday out of the 39 within the constituency and we shall continue to the rest today and finish off tomorrow.
The following are the electoral areas covered yesterday: 1.Flagatigorme; 2.Teshie Avedzi; 3.Huime; 4.Gbugbla; 5.Agorkpanu; 6.Avoeme East; 7.Denu; 8.Adafienu; 9.Adina; 10.Amutinu; 11.Agavedzi; 12.Blekusu; 13.Duta; 14.Akporkploe; 15.Yame.
I am happy to report that in all these areas, some of which the people themselves gathered to meet our presence, they had all ensured enough social distancing, which recalls how disciplined my constituents are in these abnormal times and I hope by extension we all learn from that, especially owing to the fact that they’re aged.
Items for distribution: Bags of Pure Water, Packs of Mosquito Coil, Sacks of Maize, Packs of Matches and Bars of Soap. It is my hope to add more products and to extend this exercise to other targeted priorities within the constituency to help reduce the impact of the virus on my constituents at large.”
