BIOGRAPHY OF DAGAOW

Felix Lambert Dangmaa (Dagaow), born in Ghana is a hip-hop and afro-pop artist, a song writer, journalist, and a social and environmental advocate. Dagaow is a 2015/16 Chevening scholar. He has two masters degrees: MA in media and International Development from the University of East Anglia in the UK and M.A in Development Communications from the University for Development Studies, Ghana. The artist also has a degree in Communication studies (Public Relations) and a Diploma in Communication studies (Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising), both from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. Dagaow formally known as Odumja, has various singles to his credit including “Check Point” which won him some fame in the Ghanaian music industry. The rapper derives inspiration from Ghanaian hiplife artiste Okomfo Kwadee, 2pac, Nas and Culture, and has performed on various national and international stages throughout his career. Dagaow seeks to empower and encourage his fans to believe in their dreams and work towards them as well.” Dreams are for real and everything is possible; we only need guidance, hard work and perseverance, and being at the right place at the right time and that is where my music comes in. I try to change lives through my music”. The rapper also seeks to use music to facilitate development by organising charitable gigs, educating, and informing young people about social problems such as domestic violence and drugs. Throughout his music career he has been advocate for climate change and environmental sustainability, advocated for the abolishing of female genital mutilation in northern Ghana and in 2018 joined UNICEF to advocate for the construction of toilets in homes to stopping open defecation Ghana. Whilst in the UK, Dagaow is volunteering with Suffolk Minds, a local charity in Bury St. Edmunds and BBC Radio Suffolk
